Powerball Lottery Winners for Feb 22, 2012: Over $7 Million in Prizes Awarded: New Jackpot at $70 Million!

No one hit the Jackpot in last night’s Powerball Lottery Drawing. That means the Powerball Jackpot for Saturday Night will be at least $70 Million Dollars, which would be around $43 Million Dollars if you took the cash option! Even without a Jackpot Winner last night in the Powerball drawing, close to a half million winning tickets were sold producing cash prizes totalling over $7 Million Dollars.

12 Winners matched 4 White Balls plus the Powerball to win at least $10,000 each, of those winners, 3 played the PowerPlay Option to win $40,000 each.  3 winners each matched all 5 White Balls without the Red Powerball to win $1 Million Dollars each. One of those players turned there $1 Million into $2 Million to double their prize by using the PowerPlay Option (which I highly recommend for another $1). The Million Dollar winning tickets were sold in Arizona, Illinois and South Carolina. Congrats to everyone who shared in the winnings!

The number of winners for this drawing was down from the last drawing, but I expect Saturday night’s Powerball Drawing to bring in more players and more winners as well. Florida Produces Most Powerball Winners Saturday Night: New York comes in Second Among Lottery Winners

The State of Florida produced the most amount of Winners in Saturday Night’s Powerball Drawing, with over 62,000 total winning tickets sold, while New York residents came in second with over 40,000 winners. Over $9 Million Dollars was won with winning tickets, even without the Jackpot being won. The new Powerball Lottery Jackpot currently stands at $60 Million Dollars for Wednesday night’s drawing.

Five winners each won $1 Million Dollars by matching all 5 white balls without hitting the Powerball number itself. Those Million Dollar winners were from Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois and Ohio, so congrats to each of them! No one hit the Powerball Lottery Jackpot Prize last night, so the new Powerball Jackpot for Wednesday night’s drawing on the 22nd, stands around an estimated $60 Million Dollars. Remember as the Jackpot grows, so do the number of players, which in turn makes the Jackpot get larger, even quicker than before! Here are the winning numbers again:

This marked the 10th Drawing of the Powerball Lottery under the new system that started back in January 2012. The number 5 for the Powerball makes it the 3rd number to repeat as the Powerball. The 5, 7 & 11 Red Powerball numbers have all repeated twice in just 10 drawings, which is pretty amazing. That means only 4 other numbers have hit for the Powerball since then (13-28-33-35) while the remaining 28 Powerball numbers have not hit at all under the new system! The white balls of 28, 56 & 59 have all hit threes times apiece as well in the past 10 drawings, making them Hot numbers as well.

Almost a half million winning tickets were sold last night, even without a Jackpot winner, and counting the Power Play winners, over $9,100,000 was given away in prizes. The Powerball lottery winning numbers for Feb 15, 2012 are as follows:

11-12-32-52-56 Powerball: 11

Overall, including the PowerPlay winners, there were over 554,000 total winners in Wednesday night’s drawing. Prizes of almost $6 Million Dollars were given away to those winners. Two  winners won $1 Million Dollars each by matching 5 out of 5 white balls, without the Red Powerball hitting. The state of Florida produced the most winners, with around 75,000 winners, while New York came in second, with almost 40,000 winners.

The Red 11 Powerball hit again for last night’s drawing as it did Saturday night for the huge jackpot winner. The odds of it hitting again this Saturday are slim, so that might be a strategy to not pick the Red Powerball 11, which increases your odds to 1 in 34 versus 1 in 35. The Red Powerball 7 also has hit twice this year. The odds of the 7 or 11 hitting again this week are much lower in my opinion. If either of them were to hit this Saturday night, that would be 3 out of 10 drawings since the new format started back around January 18, 2012. The regular odds of hitting the Powerball right now are 1 in 35, which is about 2.86% of the time. If the 7 or 11 hit, that would be 30% of the time under the new system, which would be astonishing. It can happen as I have stated before, because it is a random selection. But my mathematics and formulas tell me that while these numbers are definitely hot, they will probably not hit Saturday night.
